Community responses to Global Targets and Policy Change through Collaboration, Capacitation & Action |
Central 1&2 |
In response to the 2021-2026 Global AIDS Strategy and the 2021 Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS, which introduced new targets for decriminalising drug use and community-led responses (10-10-10 & 30-60-80), INPUD developed a technical assistance module, "Our Rights, Every Body’s Rights." This module aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the implications towards human rights and state obligations, emphasising accountability for implementing law and policy changes to reach global AIDS targets by 2025.
In 2022, INPUD worked with organisations in Indonesia, Nigeria, and South Africa to conduct technical assistance fora, resulting in a five-year advocacy roadmap for human rights fulfilment for people who use drugs. This collaboration expanded with a Global Training of Trainers, aiming to further develop the capacity of drug user advocates.
The conference panel seeks to provide a platform for knowledge exchange on drug user-led advocacy. It will include reflections on the Global AIDS Targets, insights into developing and implementing advocacy roadmaps, experiences from the decriminalisation course, and guidance on moving the rights movement forward for drug users.

Women in Harm Reduction |
Central 1&2 |
Women often experience the worst effects of punitive policies, and carry added stigma, experience more violence, have less recourse and fewer accessible services. They also carry added responsibilities within the community and within their domestic circumstances. In this session a group of pioneering harm reductionists discuss their work with marginalised women. The will share the successes, challenges and what works and what doesn't.
